Singularity Analysis of Closed Kinematic Chains

چکیده
This paper presents a coordinate-invariant differential geometric analysis of kinematic singularities for closed kinematic chains containing both active and passive joints. Using the geometric framework developed in Park and Kim (1996) for closed chain manipulability analysis, we classify closed chain singularities into three basic types: (i) those corresponding to singular points of the joint configuration space (configuration space singularities), (iij those induced by the choice of actuated joints (actuator singularities), and (Hi) those configurations in which the end-effector loses one or more degrees of freedom of available motion (end-effector singularities). The proposed geometric classification provides a high-level taxonomy for mechanism singularities that is independent of the choice of local coordinates used to describe the kinematics, and includes mechanisms that have more actuators than kinematic degrees of freedom.

Kinematic and singularity analysis of the hydraulic shoulder: a 3-dof redundant parallel manipulator
In this paper, kinematic modeling and singularity analysis of a three DOF redundant parallel manipulator has been elaborated in detail. It is known, that on the contrary to series manipulators, the forward kinematic map of parallel manipulators involves highly coupled nonlinear equations, whose closed-form solution derivation is a real challenge. This issue is of great importance noting that th...

متن کاملUncertainty Singularity Analysis of Parallel Manipulators Based on the Instability Analysis of Structures
When all the inputs of a parallel manipulator (PM) are locked, the manipulator is usually turned into a structure. When an uncertainty singularity occurs for a PM, the latter structure is unstable or, in other words, it may undergo infinitesimal or finite motion. Hence, the investigation of the uncertainty singularities of a PM can be reduced to the instability analysis of its corresponding str...
متن کاملSingularity Analysis of Rigid-body, Closed-loop, Shape-changing Mechanisms
This paper presents an analysis to create a general singularity condition for a mechanism that contains a deformable closed contour. This kinematic architecture is widely used in rigid-body shape changing mechanisms. The general singularity equation is reduced to a condensed form, which allows geometric relationships to be readily detected. A method for formulating the singularity condition for...
متن کاملApplication of Wavelet Neural Network in Forward Kinematics Solution of 6-RSU Co-axial Parallel Mechanism Based on Final Prediction Error
Application of artificial neural network (ANN) in forward kinematic solution (FKS) of a novel co-axial parallel mechanism with six degrees of freedom (6-DOF) is addressed in Current work. The mechanism is known as six revolute-spherical-universal (RSU) and constructed by 6-RSU co-axial kinematic chains in parallel form. First, applying geometrical analysis and vectorial principles the kinematic...
